Overviews
The available sources of the works within OCVE are described in general terms in the 'Overview' section provided for each one. The overview usually indicates the filial and/or other relationships between the sources in question, in addition to offering basic information about the music's compositional and publication histories. When a particular edition of a work first appeared in a volume containing pieces from either the same genre or different ones, reference may be made to this for the sake of contextualisation. Similarly, general description relevant to manuscript sources may be provided in this section.
